PRECONDITIONING

If “DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE” has been previously conducted, always place ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds before conducting the next test.

DTC REPRODUCTION PROCEDURE

CONSULT

  1. Ignition switch ON.

  2. Wait for 15 seconds or more.

  3. Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of “ALL MODE AWD/4WD”.

Is DTC “C1201-46” detected?

YES>>

Proceed to diagnosis procedure: Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS

CONSULT

  1. Erase self-diagnostic results for “ALL MODE AWD/4WD”.

  2. Ignition switch OFF, and wait for 10 seconds or more.

  3. Ignition switch ON, and wait for 15 seconds or more.

  4. Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of “ALL MODE AWD/4WD”.

Which DTC is detected?

Including other DTC>>

Perform the trouble diagnosis for detected other DTC. Refer to DTC Index.

C1201-46 only>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK TERMINALS AND HARNESS CONNECTORS

Check 4WD control unit pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Is inspection result normal?

YES>>

After ignition switch OFF, perform DTC confirmation procedure again. If DTC “C1201-46” is detected, replace actuator assembly due to the malfunction of the 4WD control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

NO>>

NO>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS

CONSULT

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS OF ABS ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC UNIT (CONTROL UNIT)

CONSULT

Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of “ABS”.

Is any DTC detected?

YES>>

Check the DTC. Refer to DTC Index.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK TERMINALS AND HARNESS CONNECTORS

Check 4WD control unit pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Is inspection result normal?

YES>>

After ignition switch OFF, perform DTC confirmation procedure again. If DTC “C1203–86” is detected, replace actuator assembly due to the malfunction of the 4WD control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

C1210-97 Engine Signal Nissan Pathfinder Fifth generation

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS OF 4WD CONTROL UNIT

CONSULT

  1. Erase self-diagnostic results for “ALL MODE AWD/4WD”.

  2. Start the engine, and wait for 15 seconds or more.

  3. Stop the engine.

  4. Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of “ALL MODE AWD/4WD”.

Which DTC is detected?

C1210-97>>

GO TO 2.

Except C1210-97>>

Perform the trouble diagnosis for detected DTC. Refer to DTC Index.

No DTC>>

Inspection End.

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS OF ECM

CONSULT

Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of “ENGINE”.

Is any DTC detected?

YES>>

Check the DTC. Refer to DTC Index.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS OF TCM

CONSULT

Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of “TRANSMISSION”.

Is any DTC detected?

YES>>

Check the DTC. Refer to DTC Index.

NO>>

GO TO 4.

CHECK TERMINALS AND HARNESS CONNECTORS

Check 4WD control unit pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Is inspection result normal?

YES>>

After ignition switch OFF, perform DTC confirmation procedure again. If DTC “C1210-97” is detected, replace actuator assembly due to the malfunction of the 4WD control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

C1213-A2 Battery Voltage Nissan Pathfinder 2025

CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT

Perform the trouble diagnosis of the power supply and ground circuit. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Repair or replace error-detected parts.

CHECK TERMINALS AND HARNESS CONNECTORS

Check 4WD control unit pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

After ignition switch OFF, perform DTC confirmation procedure again. If DTC “C1213-A2” is detected, replace actuator assembly due to the malfunction of the 4WD control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

C1215-12 Oil Temperature Sensor Nissan Pathfinder Fifth generation

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK TRANSFER OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect transfer oil temperature sensor harness connector.

  3. Check the continuity between transfer oil temperature sensor harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

CHECK TRANSFER OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT

  1. Disconnect 4WD control unit harness connector.

  2. Check the continuity between 4WD control unit harness connector and transfer oil temperature sensor harness connector.

  3. Check the continuity between 4WD control unit harness connector and ground.

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

CHECK TRANSFER OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL

  1. Connect 4WD control unit harness connector.

  2. Ignition switch ON.

    CAUTION:

    Never start the engine.

  3. Check the voltage between transfer oil temperature sensor harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Replace transfer oil temperature sensor. Refer to Removal and Installation.

CHECK TERMINALS AND HARNESS CONNECTORS

  • Check 4WD control unit pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

  • Check transfer oil temperature sensor pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

After ignition switch OFF, perform DTC confirmation procedure again. If DTC “C1215-12” is detected, replace the 4WD control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

C1220-54 Incomplete Air Bleeding Nissan Pathfinder 5th Gen

YES>>

Replace electro-hydraulic coupling assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

NO>>

NO>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM 4WD CONTROL UNIT PROGRAMMING

CONSULT

  1. Erase "Self Diagnostic Result" of “ALL MODE AWD/4WD”.

  2. Perform 4WD control unit programming. Refer to Description.

    • Suppose the 4WD control unit has been replaced.

  3. Ignition switch OFF.

  4. Perform the “DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE”. Refer to DTC Confirmation Procedure.

Is DTC “U3D02-06” detected?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Inspection End.

CHECK TERMINALS AND HARNESS CONNECTORS

Check 4WD control unit pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Is inspection result normal?

YES>>

After ignition switch OFF, perform DTC confirmation procedure again. If DTC “U3D02-06” is detected, replace actuator assembly due to the malfunction of the 4WD control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

Power Supply and Ground Circuit Nissan Pathfinder 2022

Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK FUSES

Check that the following fuses are not blown:

Ignition switch ON or START 9 10 A

Is the fuse blown?

YES>>

Replace the blown fuse after repairing the affected circuit.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

  1. Disconnect 4WD control unit harness connector.

  2. Check voltage between 4WD control unit harness connector and ground.

    (+) (–) Ignition switch position

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness or connector.

CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check continuity between 4WD control unit harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Inspection End.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness or connector.

Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT

Perform the trouble diagnosis for power supply and ground circuit. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Repair or replace the error-detected parts.

PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT (4WD CONTROL UNIT)

CONSULT

Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “ALL MODE AWD/4WD”.

Is any detected?

YES>>

Check the DTC. Refer to DTC Index.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT (COMBINATION METER)

CONSULT

Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “METER/M&A”.

Is any detected?

YES>>

Check the DTC. Refer to DTC Index (Full TFT Meter) or DTC Index (7 Inch Information Display).

NO>>

Perform the trouble diagnosis for combination meter power supply circuit. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure (Full TFT Meter) or Diagnosis Procedure (7 Inch Information Display).

Transfer Oil Temperature Sensor Nissan Pathfinder 2022

Component Inspection

CHECK TRANSFER OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Remove transfer oil temperature sensor. Refer to Exploded View.

  3. Check the resistance between transfer oil temperature sensor connector terminals.

    • Make measuring condition using burning hot water.

    CAUTION:

    • Prevent a burn from the burning hot water.

    • Be sure to dry the sensor after checking.

YES>>
