No. | Component | Function |
---|---|---|
1. | Rear window defogger |
Heats the heating wire with the power supply from the rear window defogger relay to prevent the rear window from fogging up. Refer to Rear Window Defogger. |
2. | Door mirror RH defogger (if equipped) | Refer to Door Mirror Defogger. |
3. | Heated washer nozzles (if equipped) | Refer to Heated Washer Nozzle. |
4. | BCM (Body Control Module) |
|
5. | Door mirror LH defogger (if equipped) | Refer to Door Mirror Defogger. |
6. | Rear window defogger condenser | Condenser reduces the noise of rear window defogger operation. |
7. | Fuse block (J/B) (rear window defogger relay) | Rear window defogger supplied power to rear window defogger, door mirror defogger, and heated washer nozzles. |
8. | Front A/C switch assembly |
|
9. | A/C auto amp. |
|
The rear window defogger is installed onto the rear window glass. When the rear window defogger switch is turned ON, current flows to the rear window defogger, heating the heat wires.
Electricity flows to the heat wire (rear window defogger) contained inside the back door window glass, and the back door window glass is heated to eliminated the fogging.
Door mirror defogger are installed in door mirror glass. When the rear window defogger switch is turned ON, current flows to the mirror defogger, heating the heat wires.
Electricity flows to the heat wire (mirror defogger) contained inside the glass mirror, and the glass mirror is heated to eliminated the fogging.
When the rear window defogger switch is turned ON, current flows to the heated washer nozzle, heating the heat wires.
Electricity flows to the heat wire (washer nozzle) contained inside the heated washer nozzle, and the washer nozzle is heated to eliminated ice buildup.
Operation Description
When rear window defogger switch is turned ON while ignition switch is ON, the rear window defogger switch signal is transmitted to the BCM.
BCM turns rear window defogger relay ON when rear window defogger switch signal is received.
Rear window defogger , door mirror defogger, and heated washer nozzles are supplied with power and operate when rear window defogger relay turns ON.
Rear window defogger ON is displayed when signal is received.
BCM transmits rear window defogger control signal to A/C auto amp. via CAN communication when rear window defogger operates.
Timer Function
BCM turns rear window defogger relay ON for approximately 15 minutes when rear window defogger switch is turned ON while ignition switch is ON. It makes rear window defogger, door mirror defogger, and heated washer nozzles operate.
Timer is canceled after pressing rear window defogger switch again during timer operation. Then BCM turns rear window defogger relay OFF. The same reaction also occurs during timer operation, if the ignition switch is placed OFF.
