No. | Component | Function |
---|---|---|
1. | Moonroof switch assembly |
Transmits open/close operation signal to the moonroof, or sunshade, motor assembly. Refer to Moonroof Switch Assembly. |
2. | Sunshade motor assembly |
The sunshade motor and CPU are integrated into one unit that opens/closes based on the moonroof switch assembly operation input. Refer to Sunshade Motor Assembly. |
3. | Front door lock assembly RH |
Detects door open/close condition and transmits the signal to the BCM. Refer to Door Lock Assembly for detailed component location. |
4. | BCM (Body Control Module) |
Supplies the power supply to the moonroof motor assembly. Refer to System Description. |
5. | Moonroof motor assembly |
The moonroof motor and CPU are integrated into one unit that opens/closes based on the moonroof switch assembly operation input. Refer to Moonroof Motor Assembly. |
6. | Front door lock assembly LH |
Detects door open/close condition and transmits the signal to the BCM. Refer to Door Lock Assembly for detailed component location. |
Moonroof switch assembly is installed to map lamp assembly.
Transmits operation signal to moonroof motor assembly and sunshade motor assembly.
When moonroof switch is operated, it transmits signal to moonroof motor assembly.
When sunshade switch is operated, it transmits signal to sunshade motor assembly.

SYSTEM DIAGRAM
INPUT/OUTPUT SIGNAL CHART
Item | Input signal to moonroof motor assembly | Moonroof motor function | Actuator |
---|---|---|---|
Moonroof switch assembly | Moonroof switch signal (tilt down or slide open) | Receives signal and moves the moonroof and sunshade assembly to the correct position. | Moonroof and sunshade motor |
Moonroof switch signal (tilt up or slide close) | |||
BCM | RAP signal | Retained power after ignition switch is placed off and the front doors stay closed. |
MOONROOF SYSTEM
The moonroof motor assembly receives the signal from the moonroof switch assembly to operate the moonroof, and transmits the signal from the moonroof switch assembly to the sunshade motor assembly via communication line.
The sunshade motor assembly operates the sunshade with the operate signal received from the moonroof switch assembly or the communication line received from the moonroof motor assembly.
AUTO OPERATION
The moonroof and sunshade operates automatically by operating the moonroof switch assembly.
NOTE:
If initialization setting is not performed, the automatic function does not operate.
During automatic operation, when the moonroof switch assembly is operated, automatic operation can be stopped.
RETAINED POWER FUNCTION
Retained power operation is an additional power supply function that enables moonroof system to operate for 45 seconds after ignition switch is placed OFF.
RETAINED POWER FUNCTION CANCEL CONDITIONS
Any of the following conditions is satisfied:
Front door CLOSE (door switch OFF)→OPEN (door switch ON)
When ignition switch is ON again.
When timer time passes (45 seconds).
LIN COMMUNICATION
Moonroof motor assembly, sunshade motor assembly and BCM transmit and receive signal via LIN communication.
ANTI-PINCH FUNCTION
The moonroof motor assembly monitors the moonroof condition using the signals from moonroof motor. When moonroof motor assembly detects an interruption during auto operation (close or tilt down operation), moonroof motor will tilt up or open [5.91 in. (150 mm) or more] moonroof.
The sunshade motor assembly monitors the sunshade condition using the signals from sunshade motor. When sunshade motor assembly detects an interruption during auto close operation, sunshade motor will open [5.91 in. (150 mm) or more] sunshade.
CAUTION:
There are some small distances immediately before the closed position which cannot be detected.
NOTE:
If initialization setting is not performed, the anti-pinch function does not operate.
When the distance between pinching position and fully-open position is less than 5.91 in (150 mm), moonroof or sunshade reverses to fully-open position.
