PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CONSULT

1. Ignition switch ON.

2. Switch heated steering wheel ON.

3. Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “HVAC”.

Is DTC B24F4–12 detected?

YES>>

Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK FUSES

Check that the following fuses are not blown:

Is the fuse blown?

YES>>

Replace the blown fuse after repairing the affected circuit.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY AND BACK-UP LAMP RELAY (HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY) POWER SUPPLY

1. Ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect heated steering wheel relay and back-up lamp relay (heated steering wheel relay) harness connector.

3. Ignition switch ON.

4. Check voltage between heated steering wheel relay and back-up lamp relay (heated steering wheel relay) harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

CHECK HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY AND BACK-UP LAMP RELAY (HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY)

Check heated steering wheel relay and back-up lamp relay (heated steering wheel relay). Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Replace heated steering wheel relay. Refer to Component Parts Location.

CHECK HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY AND BACK-UP LAMP RELAY (HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY) CONTROL SIGNAL

1. Ignition switch OFF.

2. Connect heated steering wheel relay and back-up lamp relay (heated steering wheel relay) harness connector.

3. Ignition switch ON.

4. Check voltage between A/C auto amp. harness connector and ground.

CHECK HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY AND BACK-UP LAMP RELAY (HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY) CONTROL SIGNAL CIRCUIT

1. Ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect A/C auto amp. connector and heated steering wheel relay and back-up lamp relay (heated steering wheel relay) harness connector.

3. Check continuity between A/C auto amp. harness connector and heated steering wheel relay and back-up lamp relay (heated steering wheel relay) harness connector.

4. Check continuity between A/C auto amp. harness connector and ground.

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Replace heated steering wheel relay. Refer to Component Parts Location.

CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY AND BACK-UP LAMP RELAY (HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY) AND A/C AUTO AMP.

1. Ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect the heated steering wheel relay and back-up lamp relay (heated steering wheel relay) harness connector and A/C auto amp. harness connector.

3. Check continuity between heated steering wheel relay and back-up lamp relay (heated steering wheel relay) harness connector and A/C auto amp. harness connector.

1. Disconnect the front A/C switch assembly harness connector.

2. Check continuity between front A/C switch assembly harness connector and A/C auto amp. harness connector.

3. Check continuity between front A/C switch assembly harness connector and ground.

CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY AND BACK-UP LAMP RELAY (HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY) AND COMBINATION SWITCH (SPIRAL CABLE)

1. Disconnect the combination switch (spiral cable) harness connector.

2. Check continuity between heated steering wheel relay and back-up lamp relay (heated steering wheel relay) harness connector and combination switch (spiral cable) harness connector.

NO>>

Replace heated steering wheel. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Check continuity between combination switch (spiral cable) terminals.

GO TO 2.

NO>>

CHECK HEATED STEERING WHEEL RESISTANCE

Check resistance between combination switch (spiral cable) terminals.

Component Inspection

CHECK HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY AND BACK-UP LAMP RELAY (HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY) CONTINUITY

Check continuity between heated steering wheel relay and back-up lamp relay (heated steering wheel relay) terminals.

CAUTION:

• Connect the fuse between the terminals when applying the voltage.

• To prevent damage, always observe the correct polarity.

• Prevent short-circuit.
