The Signal Tech II Tool [– (NI-50190)] can be used to perform the following functions: Refer to the Signal Tech II User Guide for additional information.

  • Activate and display TPMS sensor IDs

  • Display tire pressure reported by the TPMS sensor

  • Read TPMS DTCs

  • Register TPMS sensor IDs

NO>>

CONSULT

Perform tire pressure sensor ID registration. Refer to Work Procedure.

Does low tire pressure warning lamp turn OFF?

YES>>

Inspection End.

NO>>

Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Is DTC “C1700-86” detected?

YES>>

Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

PERFORM ABS ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC UNIT (CONTROL UNIT) SELF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT

CONSULT

Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “ABS”.

Is any DTCs detected?

YES>>

Check the DTCs. Refer to DTC Index.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK BCM INPUT/OUTPUT SIGNAL

Check BCM input/output signal values. Refer to Reference Value.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Check pin terminal and connection of each harness connector for malfunctioning conditions.

NO>>

Replace the BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Diagnosis condition Drive at a speed of 25 MPH (40 km/h) or more reaches 10 minutes in total.
Signal (terminal) Tire pressure sensor signal.
Threshold Front left tire air pressure drops to Approx. 75% or less from the specified value.
Diagnosis delay time 10 minutes or more.

NOTE:

  • DTC may be detected depending on a tire pressure change caused by a seasonal air temperature change.

  • The low tire pressure warning lamp may be OFF due to an increase in tire internal temperature, resulted from driving.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Front left tire air pressure is low

  • Air leak because of front left wheel change

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION

CONSULT

  1. Ignition switch ON.

    CAUTION:

    Never start the engine.

  2. Check the tire pressure for all wheels and adjust to the specified value. Refer to Tire Air Pressure.

  3. Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “BCM(AIR PRESSURE MONITOR)”.

  4. Drive the Nissan Pathfinder vehicle at 25 MPH (40 km/h) or more reaches 10 minutes in total.

Is DTC “C1711-7B” detected?

YES>>

Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR ID REGISTRATION

CONSULT

Perform tire pressure sensor ID registration. Refer to Description.

Is tire pressure sensor ID registration completed?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Replace front left tire pressure sensor. Refer to Removal and Installation.

CHECK TIRE PRESSURE

Check the tire pressure of all wheels. Refer to Tire Air Pressure.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Perform “DTC Confirmation Procedure” (self-diagnosis) again. Refer to DTC Description.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK TIRE PRESSURE SIGNAL

CONSULT

  1. Adjust tire pressure for all wheels to the specified value. Refer to Tire Air Pressure.

    NOTE:

    If the checked value is close to the standard, reduce the tire pressure, and then with the ignition switch ON, adjust the tire pressure again so that it is within the standard.

  2. Select "AIR PRESS FL" in "Data Monitor" mode of "BCM(AIR PRESSURE MONITOR)".

  3. Check that the front left tire pressures match the standard value. Refer to List of ECU Reference.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

After erasing DTC record, Inspection End.

NO>>

Replace front left tire pressure sensor. Refer to Removal and Installation.

C1731-16 Tire Pressure Sensor Fl Nissan Pathfinder R53

DTC Description

  1. Drive the Nissan Pathfinder vehicle at 25 MPH (40 km/h) or more reaches 10 minutes in total.

    Avoid driving in areas with radio interference.

  2. Stop the Nissan Pathfinder vehicle.

  3. Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “BCM(AIR PRESSURE MONITOR)”.

Is DTC “C1731-16” detected?

YES>>

Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

Replace front left tire pressure sensor even if other DTCs are displayed along with “C1731-16” in "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of “BCM(AIR PRESSURE MONITOR)”.

Threshold Malfunction in the tire pressure data from the front left tire pressure sensor.
Diagnosis delay time 1 second or less.
2 Diagnosis condition

Drive the Nissan Pathfinder vehicle at 25 MPH (40 km/h) or more.

NOTE:

When DTC is memorized, DTC is displayed again at ignition switch ON.

Signal (terminal) Temperature data signal.
Threshold Malfunction in the tire temperature data from the front left tire pressure sensor.
Diagnosis delay time 1 second or less.
3 Diagnosis condition

Drive the Nissan Pathfinder vehicle at 25 MPH (40 km/h) or more.

NOTE:

When DTC is memorized, DTC is displayed again at ignition switch ON.

Signal (terminal) Temperature data signal.
Threshold Malfunction in the G sensor data from front left tire pressure sensor.
Diagnosis delay time 1 second or less.

Can the tire pressure sensor ID registration be completed?

GO TO 2.

    NOTE:

    Avoid driving in areas with radio interference.

  2. Stop the Nissan Pathfinder vehicle.

  3. Select “Self Diagnostic Result” mode of “BCM(AIR PRESSURE MONITOR)”.

Is DTC “C1741-21” detected?

YES>>

Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO>>

CHECK TIRE PRESSURE SIGNAL

CONSULT

  1. Select "AIR PRESS FL" in "Data Monitor" mode of "BCM(AIR PRESSURE MONITOR)".

  2. Check that the front left tire pressures match the standard value. Refer to Values on the Diagnosis Tool.

    NOTE:

    BCM holds last tire pressure values during 17 minutes after ignition switch is placed OFF.

Are all tire pressures displayed 0 psi (kPa)?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK BCM POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT

Check BCM power supply and ground circuit. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness or connectors.

TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR ID REGISTRATION

CONSULT

Perform tire pressure sensor ID registration. Refer to Work Procedure.

Can the tire pressure sensor ID registration be completed?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Replace applicable front left tire pressure sensor. Refer to Removal and Installation.

RECHECK TIRE PRESSURE SIGNAL

CONSULT

  1. Drive the Nissan Pathfinder vehicle at 25 MPH (40 km/h) or more reaches 10 minutes in total.

    NOTE:

    Avoid driving in areas with radio interference.

  2. Stop the Nissan Pathfinder vehicle.

  3. Select "AIR PRESS FL" in "Data Monitor" mode of "BCM(AIR PRESSURE MONITOR)".

  4. Check that the front left tire pressures match the standard value. Refer to Values on the Diagnosis Tool.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

After erasing DTC record, Inspection End.

NO>>

Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation.
