Drive Mode Selector Nissan Pathfinder

System Description (2WD Models)

  • By operating the drive mode select switch, the driving mode of TOW, SPORT, STANDARD, ECO, and SNOW can be selected.

  • The drive mode selector changes the driving mode of following system.

    • Power train

    • Steering

    • Intelligent trace control

    • Brake control system

    • Driver assistance system

SYSTEM DIAGRAM

Component Signal description
BCM

Mainly transmits the following signals to chassis control module via CAN communication.

  • Drive mode select switch signal

ECM

Mainly receives the following signals from chassis control module via CAN communication.

  • Drive mode signal

ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit)

Mainly receives the following signals from chassis control module via CAN communication.

  • Drive mode signal

Combination meter

Mainly receives the following signals from chassis control module via CAN communication.

  • Drive mode signal

EPS control unit

Mainly receives the following signals from chassis control module via CAN communication.

ADAS control unit 2

Mainly receives the following signals from chassis control module via CAN communication.

  • Drive mode signal

Chassis control module Chassis control module controls the drive mode selector.
Drive mode select switch Refer to Drive Mode Select Switch.

CONTROL DESCRIPTION

  • Drive mode select switches driving mode by drive mode select switch installed on center console finisher.

  • Drive mode selector starts from STANDARD mode when the ignition switch ON.

  • The Nissan Pathfinder vehicle characteristics are controlled from the STANDARD mode to any mode listed below:

    TOW The mode controls the shifting points to facilitate the acceleration and deceleration while towing.
    SPORT
    • Adjusts the engine points for a higher response.

    • The setting of the steering system is adjusted to moderately increase steering wheel effort for a sporty feel.

    ECO Assists the driver’s eco-driving. The engine points are adjusted for improved fuel economy, providing such a driving features as smooth starting or constant cruising.
    SNOW This mode makes it easier to start and run from snowy roads and frozen roads.

ENGINE CHARACTERISTICS

  • The engine output characteristics when a mode is switched with the drive mode select switch is as follows.

    Drive mode select switch Engine output
    STANDARD Normal
    SNOW Accelerator opening characteristics is more passive.
    ECO Accelerator opening characteristics is more passive.
    SPORT Accelerator opening characteristics is more aggressive.
    TOW* Normal

    *: The stop/start system is not activated.

    NOTE:

    After switching mode to a mode that engine output increase, engine output characteristics are changed after releasing the accelerator pedal.

STEERING CHARACTERISTICS

  • The steering characteristics when a mode is switched with the drive mode select switch is as follows.

    NOTE:

    Steering characteristics change after mode switching when the steering angle is near the neutral position and the steering wheel is not turning.

  • By operating the drive mode select switch, the driving mode of SAND, MUD/RUT, SNOW, AUTO, ECO, SPORT, and TOW can be selected.

  • The drive mode selector changes the driving mode of following system.

    • Power train

    • Steering

    • Intelligent trace control

    • Brake control system

    • Driver assistance system

    • 4WD function

CONTROL DESCRIPTION

  • Drive mode select switches driving mode by drive mode select switch installed on center console finisher.

  • Drive mode selector starts from AUTO mode when the ignition switch ON.

  • The Nissan Pathfinder vehicle characteristics are controlled from the AUTO mode to any mode listed below:

    SAND This mode allows for easier driving or starting on sand.
    MUD/RUT This mode allows for easier driving or starting on a bumpy road surface such as an uneven dirt road or a steep uphill slope.
    SNOW This mode makes it easier to start and run from snowy roads and frozen roads.
    ECO Assists the driver’s eco-driving. The engine points are adjusted for improved fuel economy, providing such a driving features as smooth starting or constant cruising.
