Nissan Pathfinder: Drive Mode System - Drive Mode Select Switch Circuit
Diagnosis Procedure
CHECK DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT
-
Ignition switch OFF.
-
Disconnect drive mode select switch harness connector and BCM harness connector.
-
Check the continuity between drive mode select switch harness connector and BCM harness connector.
2WD models Drive mode select switch BCM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal M223 2 M19 80 Existed 6 57 4WD models Drive mode select switch BCM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal M229 3 M18 25 Existed -
Also check harness for short to ground and to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 2.
NO>>Repair / replace harness or connector.
CHECK DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT
Check the continuity between drive mode select switch harness connector and ground.

YES>>GO TO 3.
NO>>Repair / replace harness or connector.
CHECK DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH
Check drive mode select switch. Refer to Removal and Installation.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>INSPECTION END
NO>>Replace drive mode select switch. Refer to Removal and Installation.
Component Inspection
2WD models
CHECK DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH

Ignition switch OFF.
-
Disconnect drive mode select switch harness connector.
-
Check the continuity between drive mode select switch terminals as follows.
2WD models Drive mode select switch Condition Continuity Terminals 1 2 Switch to down-position. Existed Other than the above. Not existed 6 Switch to up-position. Existed Other than the above. Not existed
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>INSPECTION END
NO>>Replace drive mode select switch. Refer to Removal and Installation.
4WD models
CHECK DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH
-
Ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
-
Ignition switch ON.
-
Check the indicator of AUTO on drive mode select switch indicator.
-
Check the illuminated position changes according to the operation when switching the drive mode select switch.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>INSPECTION END
NO>>Replace drive mode select switch. Refer to Removal and Installation.
