When replacing ECM, the following procedure must be performed. (For details, refer to Work Procedure.)
PROGRAMMING OPERATION
CAUTION:
When replacing the ECM, a new ECM must be used. The functions controlled by the ECM do not operate properly if a ECM from another Nissan Pathfinder vehicle is used.
NOTE:
After replacing with a blank ECM, programming is required to write ECM information. Be sure to follow the procedure to perform the programming.
BEFORE REPLACEMENT
When replacing ECM, perform “SAVING DATA FOR REPLC CPU” in “Work support” of “ENGINE” using CONSULT to save current ECM data before replacement.
AFTER REPLACEMENT
After replacing ECM, the following items must be performed:
Write data after replace CPU
Accelerator pedal released position learning
Throttle valve closed position learning
Idle air volume learning
Electric intake valve timing control actuator reference position learning
Work Procedure (Before Replacing ECM)
SAVE ECM DATA
With CONSULT
Turn ignition switch OFF.
Reconnect all harness connectors disconnected.
Turn ignition switch ON.
On CONSULT screen, select “ENGINE”>>“Work support”>>“SAVING DATA FOR REPLC CPU”.
Follow the instruction of CONSULT display.
NOTE:
Necessary data in ECM is copied and saved to CONSULT.
Go to Step 2 regardless of with or without success in saving data.
>>
GO TO 2.
SAVE ‘OPERATION LOG’
With CONSULT
Save Operation Log, according to the procedure of “Programming” in CONSULT Operation Manual.
NOTE:
ECM part number is saved in Operating Log saved in CONSULT.
>>
Replace ECM.
After replacing ECM, perform necessary work.
Work Procedure (After Replacing ECM)
CHECK ‘OPERATION LOG’
With CONSULT
Check Operation Log saved before replacing ECM, according to the procedure of “Programming” in CONSULT Operation Manual.
NOTE:
For the Nissan Pathfinder vehicle that the programming is to be performed, check if Operation Log of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is in Saved Data List.
Is there an applicable Operation Log in the Saved Data List?
YES>>GO TO 2.
NO>>GO TO 3.
PERFORM ECM PROGRAMMING
With CONSULT
Perform ECM programming, according to “Programming” of CONSULT Operation Manual. Refer to CONSULT Operation Manual.
CAUTION:
During programming, maintain the following conditions:
Ignition switch: ON
Electric load: OFF
Brake pedal: Not depressed
Battery voltage: 12 – 13.5 V (Check the value displayed on the CONSULT screen.)
>>
GO TO 5.
READ IN ECM PART NUMBER BY ‘EPC LINKED’
Obtain ECM part number by EPC (service parts catalog), according to the procedure of ‘EPC linked’ in CONSULT Operation Manual. Refer to CONSULT Operation Manual.
NOTE:
‘EPC linked’ allows an appropriate programming by obtaining ECM part number from EPC (service parts catalog) even when the part number cannot be obtained from the old ECM used before replacing with a new one.
>>
GO TO 4.
PERFORM ECM PROGRAMMING (EPC LINKED)
With CONSULT
Perform ECM programming according to the procedure of EPC linked in CONSULT Operation Manual. Refer to CONSULT Operation Manual.
CAUTION:
During programming, maintain the following conditions:
Ignition switch: ON
Electric load: OFF
Brake pedal: Not depressed
Battery voltage: 12 – 13.5 V (Check the value displayed on the CONSULT screen.)
>>
GO TO 5.
PERFORM INITIALIZATION OF NVIS (NATS) SYSTEM AND REGISTRATION OF ALL NVIS (NATS) IGNITION KEY IDS
Refer to Description.
>>
GO TO 6.
CHECK ECM DATA STATUS
Check if the data is successfully copied from the ECM at Step 1 (before replacement) and saved in CONSULT.
Is the data saved successfully?
YES>>GO TO 7.
NO>>GO TO 8.
WRITE ECM DATA
With CONSULT
On CONSULT screen, select “ENGINE”>>“Work support”>>“WRITING DATA FOR REPLC CPU”.
Follow the instruction of CONSULT display.
NOTE:
The data saved by “SAVING DATA FOR REPLC CPU” is written to ECM.
>>
GO TO 9.
PERFORM VIN REGISTRATION
Refer to Description.
>>
GO TO 9.
WRITING MAC KEY FOR ECM
Refer to Description.
>>
GO TO 10.
PERFORM ACCELERATOR PEDAL RELEASED POSITION LEARNING
Refer to Description.
>>
GO TO 11.
PERFORM THROTTLE VALVE CLOSED POSITION LEARNING
Refer to Description.
>>
GO TO 12.
ELECTRIC INTAKE VALVE TIMING CONTROL ACTUATOR REFERENCE POSITION LEARNING
Refer to Description.
>>
GO TO 13.
PERFORM IDLE AIR VOLUME LEARNING
Refer to Description.
>>
GO TO 14.
ERASE DTC
With CONSULT
Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
Turn ignition switch ON.
Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
Turn ignition switch ON.
Check “Self-diagnostic result” of “ENGINE”.
Is any DTC detected?
