Seatback

DISASSEMBLY

WARNING:

Do not leave any objects (screwdrivers, tools, etc.) on the seat during seatback repair. It can lead to personal injury if the side air bag module should accidentally deploy.

CAUTION:

  • Before servicing, place ignition switch OFF, disconnect both battery terminals then wait at least three minutes.

  • Always work from the side or back of the seatback, do not work in front of seat.

  • Do not use air tools or electric tools for servicing the seat assembly.

  • Do not insert any objects into the rear side air bag module.

  • Do not attempt to disassemble the rear side air bag module.

  • Do not expose the rear side air bag module to temperatures exceeding 90°C (194°F).

  • Do not expose the rear side air bag module to any oil, grease, detergent or water.

  • During disassembly, do not damage the seatback board, connectors, retainers, clips, module harness or the side air bag module.

NOTE:

If the vehicle has been involved in a collision and the rear side air bag module has deployed, the seatback must be replaced.

Remove the seat from vehicle. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Remove the headrest.

Using a suitable tool, release pawls and remove the walk in back switch finisher (1) and tether anchor finisher (2) from the seatback board (3).

NOTE:

Captain seat LH shown, seat RH similar.

: Pawl

Release retainers (A) and hook fasteners (B), then remove the seatback board (1).

NOTE:

Captain seat LH shown; seat RH similar.

Remove clips (A) from seat frame assembly (1).

For models with captain seat, remove the armrest using the following steps:Release pawls and remove the armrest cover (1) from armrest (2).

: Pawl

Remove bolt from the armrest and remove the armrest.

For USA and Canada, remove the side air bag module bracket bolts (A) from the seat frame assembly (1).

NOTE:

Captain seat LH shown, seat RH similar.

Pull back the seatback trim and pad (1) and disconnect the harness connector (A) from the second row seat back heater (if equipped).

Reach up behind seatback trim, release pawls, then remove the headrest holder [locked (1)] and headrest holder [free (2)].

NOTE:

  • Captain seat LH shown; seat RH similar.

  • Seatback trim and seatback pad removed for clarity.

: Pawl

For USA and Canada, remove the rear side air bag module from the seatback trim and pad using the following steps:Release the seatback trim and pad from the seat frame assembly to access the rear side air bag module. Using a suitable tool, release harness retainers from the rear side air bag module bracket.

NOTE:

Take note of harness routing and attachment location for correct installation.

Remove nuts (A) and remove the side air bag module bracket (1).

Pull the rear side air bag module out of the chute and position aside.

CAUTION:

  • Replace the rear side air bag module if it has been dropped or sustained an impact.

  • Do not strike the rear side air bag module.

Remove seatback trim and seatback pad as an assembly from the seat frame assembly.

Separate seat cushion trim from the seat cushion pad using the following steps:Release hook fasteners (A) and remove the hog rings from the seatback (1).

NOTE:

Remove all pieces of hog rings and discard them.

: Hog ring

Remove the seatback trim from the seatback pad.

ASSEMBLY

Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.

CAUTION:

  • Always route the rear side air bag module harness in original location. Replace any deformed or damaged clips with same type and color. Always install clips in the original location in the harness.

  • After work is completed, check that no system malfunction is detected causing the air bag warning lamp to illuminate.

  • If a malfunction is detected by the air bag warning lamp after repair or replacement of the malfunction parts, perform the SRS final check. Refer to SRS Final Check.

  • Install new hog rings on the seatback trim in original positions.

  • Use only one hog ring in each designated location.

  • Make sure hog rings are correctly fastened around both the seatback trim and seatback pad wires.

  • Use NISSAN standard hog rings and tools to assemble.

  • Make sure hook fastener is pressed into place after seatback trim is assembled.

  • Smooth out all wrinkles during assembly.

Seat Cushion

DISASSEMBLY

Remove the seat from vehicle. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Remove seatback strap (A) from the seat frame assembly (1).

NOTE:

Captain seat LH shown, Seat RH similar.

Using a suitable tool, release clips and remove 2nd seat outer leg cover [LH (1)].

: Clip

Using a suitable tool, release metal clips and pawls and remove outer finisher [LH (1)].

: Pawl
: Metal clip

Using a suitable tool, remove snap ring (A) and remove recline lever (1) from outer finisher [RH (2)].

Remove screw (A) from outer finisher [RH (1)].

Using a suitable tool, release pawls and metal clips from outer finisher [RH (1)].

: Pawl

Using suitable tool, release seat cushion trim clip and seat cushion trim J-clips (A) from the seat frame assembly.

(1) : Seat cushion trim
: Clip

Disconnect harness connector from second row seat cushion heater (if equipped).

Using a suitable tool, remove harness retainer from second row seat cushion heater (if equipped).

Remove seat cushion from seat frame assembly.

Separate seat cushion trim from seat cushion pad using the following steps.Remove the hog rings from seat cushion (1).

NOTE:

Remove all pieces of hog rings and discard them.

: Hog ring

Remove the seat cushion trim from the seat cushion pad.

ASSEMBLY

Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.

  • Install new hog rings on the seat cushion trim in original positions.

Remove armrest cover (1) from armrest (2).

Remove bolt from armrest and remove armrest.

For USA and Canada, remove the side air bag module bracket bolts (A) from the seat frame assembly (1).

Pull back seatback trim and pad (1) and disconnect harness connector (A) from second row seat back heater (if equipped).

Reach up behind seatback trim and release pawls and remove the headrest holder [locked(1)] and headrest holder [free (2)].

Using a suitable tool, release pawls and remove the walk in back switch finisher (1) and tether anchor finishers (2).

Release retainers (A) and hook fasteners (B), then remove the seatback board (1).

Remove the center armrest. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Remove clips (A) from the seat frame assembly.

Remove screws (A) from seat frame assembly (1).

Using a suitable tool, release clips from the seatback trim (1).

: Metal clip
: Clip

Pull back seatback trim and pad (1) and disconnect harness connector (A) from second row seat back heater (LH) (if equipped).

For USA and Canada, remove bolts (A) from the side air bag module bracket (1).

Reach up behind the seatback trim, release pawls and remove the headrest holder [locked (1)] and headrest holder [free (2)].

NOTE:

Seatback trim and seatback pad removed for clarity.

: Pawl

Remove the armrest panel. Refer to Exploded View.

Route the seat belt retractor (center) through the seatback trim and seatback pad.

For USA and Canada, remove the rear side air bag module from the seatback trim and pad using the following steps:Release the seatback trim and pad from the seat frame assembly to access the rear side air bag module. Using a suitable tool, release harness retainers from the rear side air bag module bracket.

NOTE:

Take note of harness routing and attachment location for correct installation.

Remove nuts (A) and remove the side air bag module bracket (1).

Pull the rear side air bag module out of the chute and position aside.

Separate seat cushion trim from the seat cushion pad using the following steps.Release hook fasteners (A) and remove the hog rings from the seatback (1).

Remove the seatback trim from the seatback pad.

If necessary, remove bolt (A) and remove the seat belt retractor [center (1)].

ASSEMBLY

Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.

CAUTION:

  • Always route the rear side air bag module harness in original location. Replace any deformed or damaged clips with same type and color. Always install clips in the original location in the harness.

DISASSEMBLY

Remove seatback strap (A) from seat frame assembly.

Using a suitable tool, release clips and remove 2nd seat leg cover [RLH (1)].

: Clip

Using a suitable tool, release pawls and metal clips and remove outer finisher [RH (1)].

: Metal clip

Using a suitable tool, remove snap ring (A) and remove the recline lever (1) from outer finisher [LH (2)].

Remove screw (A) from outer finisher [LH (1)].

Using a suitable tool, release pawls and metal clips from outer finisher [LH (1)].

: Metal clip

Disconnect harness connector from second row seat cushion heater (LH) (if equipped).

Using suitable tool, release seat trim clip and seat trim J-clips (A) from the seat frame assembly.

Remove seat cushion from seat frame assembly.

Separate the seat cushion trim from seat cushion pad using the following steps.Remove the hog rings from the underside of the seat cushion (1).

: Hog ring

Remove the hog rings from the top side of the seat cushion (1).

: Hog ring

NOTE:

Remove all pieces of hog rings and discard them.

Remove seat cushion trim from the seat cushion pad.

ASSEMBLY

Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.

  • Install new hog rings on the seatback trim in original positions.

  • Use only one hog ring in each designated location.

  • Make sure hog rings are correctly fastened around both the seatback trim and seatback pad wires.

  • Use NISSAN standard hog rings and tools to assemble.

  • Make sure hook fastener is pressed into place after seatback trim is assembled.
