Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

WARNING:

Do not leave any objects (screwdrivers, tools, etc.) on the seat during seatback repair. It can lead to personal injury if the side air bag module should accidentally deploy.

CAUTION:

• When removing or installing the seat trim, handle it carefully to keep dirt out and to avoid damage.

• When checking the power seat circuit for continuity using a circuit tester, do not confuse its connector with the side air bag module connector. Such an error may cause the air bag module to deploy.

• Do not drop, tilt, or bump the side air bag module while installing the seat. Always handle it with care.

• After front side air bag module inflates, the front seatback assembly must be replaced.

• When removing and installing the seat, use shop cloths to protect components from damage.

• Before removing the front seat, place ignition switch OFF, disconnect both battery cables then wait at least three minutes.

Slide the seat to the full forward position.

Using a suitable tool, release pawls and remove the rear slide finisher [LH (1)] and [RH (2)].

NOTE:

When removing the rear slide finishers, lift up and then pull rearward in the direction shown.

Remove the rear seat bolts.

Slide seat to the full rearward position.

Using a suitable tool, release pawls and remove the front slide finisher [RH (1)] and [LH (2)].

NOTE:

When removing the front slide finisher, lift up and then pull forward in the direction shown.

Remove the front seat bolts.

Disconnect negative and positive battery terminals, then wait at least three minutes. Refer to Battery Disconnect.

Tilt the seat rearward and disconnect the harness connectors from the seat.

NOTE:

Take note of the harness routing and attachment locations for correct installation.

Remove the seat from the Nissan Pathfinder vehicle.

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

WARNING:

• Perform additional services when installing front passenger seat. Refer to Description.

• Zero point reset must be performed every time the front passenger seat is removed from the Nissan Pathfinder vehicle.

• Zero point reset is done after the front passenger seat is installed in vehicle and all bolts are tightened to specification.

CAUTION:

Make sure that the seat harness or the floor carpet is not damaged during installation.

• When installing the front seat (LH), tighten the bolts to specification in the order shown.

  

  Front seat (LH) bolt torque

  : 45 Nm (4.6 kg-m, 33 ft-lb)

• When installing the front seat (RH), tighten the bolts to specification in the order shown.

  

  Front seat (RH) bolt torque

  : 45 Nm (4.6 kg-m, 33 ft-lb)

Seat Back Blower Nissan Pathfinder R53

Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

Remove the front seat. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Remove the seatback strap (A) from the seat frame assembly.

Using suitable tool, release the lower J-hooks (A).

(C)	: Upper J-hooks

Unzip the seatback zippers (B).

Unclip the seatback duct from the seat back blower.

Remove bolt (A) from the seat back blower motor (1).

Disconnect the harness connectors (B) from the seat back blower.

Release hooks (C) and position aside the seat back blower motor.

Using suitable tool, release the harness retainers from the seat back blower motor and remove the seatback blower motor.

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Seat Cushion Blower Nissan Pathfinder R53

Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

Remove the front seat. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NOTE:

It is not necessary to separate the seatback trim from the seatback pad.

Remove the seatback strap (A) from the seat frame assembly.

Disconnect harness connector from the driver seat control unit (if equipped).

Disconnect the harness connector (A) from the seat cushion blower (1).

Using a suitable tool, release seat back blower pawls and remove seat cushion blower motor.

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Front Seat Heater Nissan Pathfinder SUV

Removal and Installation

Seat Cushion Heater

REMOVAL

Remove seat cushion pad. Refer to Seat Cushion.

Carefully remove front seat heater from seat cushion pad.

CAUTION:

• Carefully remove seat heater from seat cushion pad.

• Do not damage seat cushion pad when removing seat heater; if damaged, replace seat cushion pad

INSTALLATION

Peel protective backing from front seat heater and attach to seat cushion pad.

Secure the front seat heater harness to the seat cushion frame.

Install the remaining seat cushion components. Refer to Seat Cushion.

Seat Back Heater

REMOVAL

Remove seatback pad. Refer to Seatback.

Carefully remove front seat heater from seatback pad.

CAUTION:

• Carefully remove seat heater from seatback pad.

• Do not damage seatback pad when removing seat heater; if damaged, replace seatback pad

INSTALLATION

Peel protective backing from front seat heater and attach to seatback pad.

Secure the front seat heater harness to the seatback frame.

Install the remaining seatback components. Refer to Seatback.

Power Seat Switch Nissan Pathfinder R53

Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

NOTE:

Driver seat shown; passenger seat similar.

Remove the front seat. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Remove the seatback trim retainer straps (A).

Using suitable tool, release pawls and remove the seat slide knob (1) and the seat recline knob (2).

Using suitable tool, release pawls and clips, then reposition the seat cushion outer finisher [LH (1)] aside.

Remove screws (A) and release the power seat switch (1) from the seat cushion outer finisher [LH (2)].

Disconnect the harness connector from the power seat switch and remove.

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Lumbar Support Switch Nissan Pathfinder 5th Gen

Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

NOTE:

Driver seat shown; passenger seat similar.

Remove the front seat. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Remove the seatback trim retainer straps (A).

Using suitable tool, release pawls and clips, then reposition the seat cushion outer finisher (1) aside.

Disconnect the harness connector from the lumbar support switch.

Remove screws (A) and remove the lumbar support switch (1) from the seat cushion outer finisher (2).

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
