Battery discharged.	Refer to Work Flow (With 165-DSS-5000P) or Work Flow (Without 165-DSS-5000P).
The charge warning lamp does not illuminate when the ignition switch is set to ON.
The charge warning lamp does not turn OFF after the engine starts.
The charging warning lamp turns ON when increasing the engine speed.

Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

Disconnect the battery negative terminal. Refer to Battery Disconnect.

Remove compressor. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Remove the drive belt auto-tensioner. Refer to Removal and Installation of Drive Belt Auto-tensioner.

Remove the front over fender. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Partially remove the front half of fender protector. Refer to Exploded View.

Remove "B" terminal nut and disconnect "B" terminal harness.

Disconnect the harness connector from generator.

Using a suitable jack (A), support the front suspension member and remove the two front bolts for the front suspension member. Refer to Exploded View.

Lower the front suspension member.

NOTE:

The front suspension member should only be lowered enough to allow the generator to be removed [approximately 38 mm (1.5 in)].

Remove the generator bolts and remove the generator through the passenger wheel opening.

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Temporarily tighten bolts and nut, then tighten nut and bolts in the specified numerical order.

Nut : 64.7 N·m (6.6 kg-m, 48 ft-lb)

Bolts : 28.0 N·m (2.9 kg-m, 21 ft-lb)

CAUTION:

Be sure to tighten “B” terminal nut carefully.

Install generator and check tension of the belt. Refer to Checking Drive Belt.
Check the wheel alignment. Refer to Inspection.

Inspection

GENERATOR PULLEY INSPECTION

Perform the following.

Make sure that the generator pulley does not rattle.
Make sure that the generator pulley nut is tight.

NOTE:

Replace the generator as an assembly if necessary.
